Christina Veliz | American
Christina recently graduated from the Master in Market Research & Consumer Behavior program this year, July 2016. She has a background in Communications and has worked in digital media in Madrid and San Francisco. Prior to the program, she took a gap year after University to teach English while doing Social Media work. Throughout the duration of the program, she quickly found that Digital Marketing was the direction she wanted to head towards most. She is now currently in the Data and Analytics department at The Cocktail, a Digital Marketing Consultancy in Madrid.
“If there’s’ one thing I can say about my experience at IE, it’s; life changing. I made amazing friends from around the world, got to learn from professors who are practitioners in the field with hands on projects, and I grew so much by working in teams and giving presentations. Overall, IE has better prepared me for my career and future. The knowledge I gained and all the great memories I made, will be carried with me forever.”
Maria Renée | Bolivian
Renée is Bolivian and a recent alumni of the Master in Corporate Communication program. She studied journalism and currently is the creator and Editor-in-Chief of a women’s fashion magazine and is a lifestyle blogger. During her year at IE she was part of the IE Communication Club and the Luxury Goods and Services Club. During weekends Renée enjoys visiting art galleries and getting lost in the streets of Madrid discovering unique cafés and corners.
“The MCC has been the most enriching academic and personal journey where I could exchange ideas, knowledge, experiences and different perspectives with people from all over the world. Passion, innovation, diversity and an entrepreneurial spirit are at the base of the IE experience; an experience that prepares you to the challenges and opportunities communication professionals will encounter in their life. I have grown as a professional and as a person and gained a new perspective of communication and business in a globalized and digital world.”
Clarissa Watson | Canadian
Clarissa graduated from the Master in Visual and Digital Media program in 2016. After working in international trade and digital marketing in Mexico, Clarissa followed her passion for linguistics into a role as a copywriter in McCANN Canada. It was then she discovered her need to develop skills in design and conceptualization within digital media and why she chose the MVDM. Clarissa is currently the Head of Marketing at Alto Data Analytics.
“The MVDM gave me the skills and critical-thinking to propel my career. Combining management with creativity, meant I was able to freely express my ideas, while at the same time honing my managerial skills. Today more than ever through digital media, people and brands speak a visual language and this program helped me to find a career within that context.”
Carmen Múgica | Spanish
Carmen is a recent alumni of the Master in International Relations. She previously worked at IOSCO (the International Organization of Securities Commissions) headquarters in Madrid and is now working at the project department of the Club de Excelencia in Sostenibilidad, a corporate association of Spanish companies committed to sustainable growth from an economic, social and environmental perspective.
“The MIR provided me with the necessary knowledge to develop my career in the area of international affairs and sustainable growth. The diversity of cultures and backgrounds of my classmates allowed me to open my vision of things and the world. Moreover, the excellent and closeness of the professors, the field-trip to Brussels and the opportunity to part-time working as a research intern in a leading think-tank in European Affairs, made my IE experience very satisfying”
Robert Waters | American
Robert is a Master in Management student with a specialization in Integrated Marketing Communications. With work experience in the media production and e-commerce industries in Los Angeles, he hopes to remain in Spain upon graduation and work in marketing.
Xuhui Gan | Chinese
Xuhui is a trilingual Chinese who has pursued her higher education in Spain. She finished Master in Finance at IE in July 2015 and has become a Beta Gamma Sigma member. Prior to joining IE, she completed Bachelor of Finance and Accounting at University Carlos III of Madrid as the valedictorian and worked as a financial risk management consultant and financial auditor at Deloitte Risk Management. Currently she is employed by BBVA Global Risk Management as a risk analyst.
“Even though I came from a finance background, the Master in Finance proved to be a period of enriching experience for me. With the majority of teachers being practitioners, I learnt a great deal about finance in real life, broadened my views, and brought my knowledge to another level. The friendly competition among classmates and friends I made during the master will be invaluable treasure for my life.”
Christina Stathopoulos | American
Christina is a recent Fellow graduate from the Master in Business Analytics and Big Data program. During her year at IE, she was also an Officer of the IE Big Data Club and co-managed the MBD Blog and Twitter account. She is currently working as an Expert Engineer in Project Development and Big Data at Nielsen España. Originally from the USA, she studied Statistics and New Technologies, which prompted her interest in this field.
“My time in the Master in Business Analytics and Big Data has been an enriching experience. They have found a way to teach a balance between business and technical skills; developing us into professionals highly demanded in the market. Not to mention, the incredibly diverse group of classmates and alumni network is not something you could find elsewhere.”
Carmen Magrazo | Spanish
After winning the second prize of the “IE Arquitectura+Competition 2014” for young architects, Carmen embarked into the adventure of the 2015-2016 Master in Architectural Management and Design class. She combines her studies with her work as a Junior Architect in a Spanish Architectural firm that is opening up to the international market.
“Being aware of the lack of knowledge in business and management areas that architects have and realizing that opening to the world needs to become much more competitive, I decided to develop my new professional skills in the IE while I benefit from its international scope and the approximation to other cultures”
Daniel Falcão | Brazilian
Daniel is a recent Law Fellow graduate from the LLM in International Business Law at IE. Daniel was working as an associate for Barbosa, Müssnich Aragão (BMA) – a leading law firm in Brazil – prior to joining the program. He plans to continue working as a lawyer and put to use the knowledge acquired in the LL.M program.
“I believe that this kind of international experience represents a very important step in improving your professional skills, while at the same time it will give you a rewarding personal experience, by exposing yourself to a broader view of the world and alternative ways of thinking. You will be able to develop and train your mind to think creatively and to understand the broader strategic objectives behind any business transactions. As a lawyer, in order to excel in this challenging profession, it is of utmost importance to have highly qualified academic credentials and a rich international experience. IE will definitely provide you that and much more.”
